The Easy Train Table

Hello readers! Sorry I'm the worst blogger. Between answering emails, updating craigslist, etsy, Facebook and working, there's little time to blog.
I'm trying to get better!

Today I'd like to talk about our newest project. The train table.
So first off, how do stores get off by charging 350.00 for a Thomas the Train table? This is for just the table folks. No trains, no tracks.
I was very surprised too.

Our boys first table, we purchased some tracks, trains and the table for 250.00, apparently we got a amazing deal. Because I found out yesterday, just the table costs 350.00!
Well, shortly after buying it, it broke. Shouldn't the quality on a item this expensive be unbreakable, especially since kids will be using and abusing it?

My husband and I love to have nice things, but try to keep our costs at a minimum, especially when we know that our kids will most likely break it.
I got to work brain storming on a train table. We put our kids to bed and immediately when to our garage and built a train table.
It was simple. 2 x 4's for legs nailed together to make 4 x 4's. 1 x 4's for the frame, and a heavy mid quality piece of plywood.
Fill holes, sand, and stain. WALLAH.
We had scrap wood and materials laying around home, the only thing we had to purchase was the plywood. We bought a 8 x 8 piece for 33.40, but they come in smaller pieces.

Really happy with how it turned out. The table top is screwed down to prevent the boys from tearing it off ( Yes, the Thomas top always came off )

January 2014

Hello!

It's been a crazy year. But we are thankful to our customers, family and friends for the amazing support. It's been a lot of learning, trying and growing.. a lot of success and a few failures. I'm sure more failures to come, but we're learning!

We just launched our Etsy Page as seen here https://www.etsy.com/shop/WestCoastCountryLTD
We've already had two sales and a lot of interest arising!

We shipped our first Canada Wide Harvest Table in early January and look forward to shipping more items.
